mTip?
Back in the day, whenever I would go out with friends and we had to split a bill, I would ask my friend Felicity to tell me how much I have to pay. She’s quite good at math while I’m...let’s just say that I’m not very good at it. That approach worked fine, apart from two drawbacks:
- Sometimes Felicity had better things to do than go out with us guys, so without her, I was pretty much screwed.
- Sometimes, Felicity would give me a weird look and sigh when I would ask her to calculate how much I have to chip in. I knew right then that I had to stop asking her for favors (and look like a schmuck who can't do math) and find a way to calculate my part of the bill.
And so I came across the Pascal Mermoz-developed app mTip, a properly good tip calculator and smart bill splitter.
When I go out on my own, to get a quick bit to eat for example, I can use this app to find out how much I should tip. I can simply tell the app how much I have to pay, and it will tell me how much I have to tip. The app comes with three predefines and configurable tip levels.
When I go out with friends, I can use the app to calculate how big the tip for the bill should be, and to calculate my share of the bill and how much I should tip based on that share. The app doesn’t split the bill evenly, it allows you to split the bill based on what everyone had to drink and/or eat. Splitting the bill evenly doesn’t seem fair when one person had a coke and another had five beers.
mTip is a very easy to use and properly good tip calculator and bill splitter with international currency support.
